It's nearly impossible for me to pick a favorite movie. My preference in movies changes on a daily basis. Once, I marathoned every romantic comedy I own. A few days later, I watched all the Marvel movies on Netflix. From Disney princesses to Harry Potter to Sweeney Todd, I took forever trying to choose a favorite. But I found one movie in particular that has all the best elements of my favorite movies; The Princess Bride.

My mom made me watch The Princess Bride when I was so little. I'd watch on VHS, stick it in the ancient rewinder and then watch it again. Romance, chivalry, danger, sword fights and revenge. This movie has everything but I fell in love with the characters first. They were so charming and funny. I dreamed of going on all of their adventures with them. Buttercup was my idol growing up, and she still kind of is. She never gave up on her true love and she wasn't afraid to stand up for herself. She also had a gorgeous dress in the last half of the movie that I would've died for. Westley was the perfect prince charming. He was sweet, kind and knew his way around a sword. Fezzik and Inigo were the comedic duo that never failed to make me laugh. . If I was every having a bad day, or spending a sick day at home, I'd always put in The Princess Bride to cheer me up.

I have such a personal connection to this film. It was a huge part of my life growing up. I spent a long time telling everyone who left my house, "Have fun storming the castle!" I'm pretty sure I apologized to my parents for that one. I remember, for years, I would leap off  my grandparent's staircase, imitating Buttercup leaping from the window in the last scenes of the film. The characters are what made this movie for me. Sometime in the future, I'm sure I'll be sharing The Princess Bride with a family of my own and showing them how much it meant to me.
