Where's Stevie?

Where's Stevie?

Our lovable mascot Stevie Pointer has been taken! Read on to see what happens when three teen detectives are put on the case to find the UWSP mascot.

One chilly February morning, our fearless leader, Laurie gathered all of the top detectives in town. “The school’s mascot, Stevie Pointer, has been taken hostage. I need you all to find him. So far, we have tracked him to the Library Resource Center on campus. It’s up to you now. Follow the paw print ransom notes to find him. Good luck.” Three of the best, Emily, Jessica and Bekah teamed up to search for their beloved Stevie. Little did the other detectives know, these three girls had superpowers. Here follows their incredible story of crime fighting and adventure.

Entering the building on the first floor, we ran to our first clue. In the reference area we are looking to find Encyclopedia of the Dog (SF. 422 F64 1995). Finding the English Pointer on page 196, and then talking to the reference lady she gave us the letter V. The mystery continues!

Bored of the view on the first floor we used our super speed to run up the stairs to the very top floor of the library and stopped to catch a quick a view. Then we moved to the U.S. Government Publications, you have to read this really long aged paper that tells you how to read the SuDocs call number and there once again was the paw print telling us Stevie was once here… SI was all we needed before moving on.

We wanted to jam out to some tunes while we searched for the famous mutt so what else would three adolescent girls do but listen to some Rolling Stones in section M 1630.18 R64 so we dashed to the third floor of the library. Once we reached the fabulous CDs we stumbled upon another paw print! Heading up the stairs rapidly, we meet other groups hot on our tail looking to find him first.

We spotted the kidnapper! We didn't get a good look at him but finding the book located at PN 2287 C5, gave us a glimpse Charlie Chaplin is the culprits look alike! Trying to be quiet on the fourth floor was a challenge but we managed and pressed on to find our beloved dog.

We then decided we needed a break from the quite creaking of the fourth floor and used our speedy powers to run down the many flight of stairs and reached the first floor museum. We saw the flying shark! Our superpower morals kicked in to save the day and tackled the shark down in pain he whimper to us where he had last seen Stevie while hunting bird eggs. The thief had him by the Pacific Golden Plover birds in the great state of Alaska! We took our clue and off we dashed.

Using our speedy powers again we took off to the second floor. Racing our way to the newspapers we became winded, as we spotted to take a breather we lifted the newspaper and to our shock there was our paw print! After some asking around, we found our next letter, E. We are on the hunt to find our last clue and save Stevie Pointer.

The only place we had not checked was the fifth floor. In the closed study desks for quiet research, we found another hostage. This poor gorilla was caged and screaming for our help. After talking to him and explaining how we lost Stevie, he gave us our last letter, H. “You should have all the letters now,” he said. “Unscramble them and you will find your friend.”

V S I R C A E H.

What on earth could this possibly mean? Using our powers of deduction, Emily, Jessica and Bekah did it. ARCHIVES. The archives in the library are just across the fifth floor. Hiding behind the door was our lovable Stevie! We had found him at last. We saved him from the archives and delivered him back to Laurie.
“Congratulations, girls. You were the first ones back. I’m so glad we have Stevie back among us. I do wonder, however, how did you come back so fast? We have had no sign of any of the others.” Emily, Jessica and Bekah shared a look and a laugh.

“Sorry, Laurie. That one’s just going to have to stay a mystery.”
